The Founding of Aequo

Aequo Pathway Foundation was founded by Tiffany Shelby, with a vision to expand access to meaningful career exploration for students—particularly those in underserved communities. With a background in talent management and a passion for connecting people to opportunity, Tiffany created Aequo to help bridge the gap between what students learn in the classroom and the careers available to them.

The name Aequo comes from the idea of “making equal” or “leveling.” It reflects our belief that access to information and opportunity should not be limited by exposure. This work is deeply personal and rooted in the belief that exposure can change the trajectory of a student’s life.

Guiding Potential Into Purpose

Aequo Pathway Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that was created to expand access and opportunity for students by helping them see the real-world possibilities connected to what they learn in school.

Too often, students move through their education without a clear understanding of how their interests, strengths, and subjects translate into meaningful careers. Aequo exists to bridge that gap—connecting students with professionals, industries, and pathways they may not have otherwise encountered.

AEQUO Guiding Principles

Mission

To expand access and opportunity for underserved students by connecting academic learning to real-world career pathways through early exposure, exploration, and meaningful engagement with professionals.

Vision

A future where all students—regardless of background—can clearly see, access, and pursue a wide range of meaningful and attainable career pathways.

Why I Started Aequo

“I created Aequo Pathway Foundation because I saw how easy it is for students to move through school without ever truly understanding what’s possible for their future.

There are so many careers, industries, and opportunities that students simply aren’t exposed to early enough—especially those who don’t already have access to those networks.

Aequo was built to change that. To create moments of exposure, connection, and clarity that can shape how students see themselves and what they believe is possible.”
